While putting this blog together and looking over papers from 2009 and this years I noticed something strange about my cavities. In 2009 I had cavities in teeth number 3OL, 14OL, 18O, 30O, 31O so this year my cavities were in teeth number 2O, 3O, 15O, 18O, 31O. I've tried to google why I could have cavities again in the same teeth almost in the same spot but I've yet to find any answers. I know some are probably wondering what the O and OL stand for so I've looked it up myself because I was curious. At this website I found the answers. "The numbers represent which teeth have cavities or other problems. Tooth number 1 is the upper right third molar or wisdom tooth, the farthest tooth back in the mouth. Tooth number 16 is the upper left third molar. Tooth number 17 is the lower left third molar, and tooth number 32 is the lower right third molar. So, teeth 8 and 9 are the upper front teeth, or left and right central incisors, and teeth 24 and 25 are the lower front teeth, or lower left and right central incisors. The letter part of the code refers to different parts or surfaces of the tooth. An "M" mesial, or "D" distal, is the front or back surface of the tooth, respectively. An "O" occlusal, is the top or biting surface of a back tooth (molar or premolar), and "I" incisal, is the biting edge of front teeth (incisors and canines). A "B" buccal, is the surface of the tooth towards the cheek, and an "L" lingual, is the surface of the tooth towards the tongue."
